Artist Statement

Every painting I create is an exciting experience in technique, expression, likeness and color. And each piece of artwork offers a different unique challenge. I strive for my artwork to evoke a good feeling to the viewer - maybe a memory of a special place or happiness at seeing an attractive combination of colors.

About

Teresa has been drawing and painting ever since she can remember. One of her first memories of art is making figure sculptures out of playdough in Kindergarten along with drawing all over the brown paper covers of her school books at school. She continues painting in pastels, acrylics, and watercolor along with teaching drawing and painting classes in the evenings and weekends.

She received her B.A. degree in Fine Arts and soon after began a career as a graphic designer. Several years later she received her Masters Degree in Education. She currently works full time as a graphics designer creating a variety of graphics and multimedia products. In the evening and on weekends she teaches private and group art classes in drawing and painting.

To fulfill her desire for creating fine art, Teresa paints in her free time and is an active member of the Springfield Art Guild and the Pastel Society of Virginia. She likes to try new techniques and processes to improve her work. She often participates in local art shows and competitions where she has sold her artwork and been presented with awards. Teresa's latest achievement was her acceptance into the well known Loft Gallery in Occoquan, VA where she is now one of 21 professional artists exhibiting and selling her artwork.

Her paintings have been juried into many art shows including the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA, The Liberty Arts Center in Fredericksburg, VA, The Ernst Gallery at Northern Virginia Community College, Green Spring Gardens Fairfax County Park in Alexandria, VA, the Franconia Government Center in Springfield, VA, the Goodwin House in Alexandria.
